Riders Cafe

Ever since Chu Fang's internship started, we have had lesser time to visit cafes. But hey, one of Chu Fang's off days last week happened to be on a Friday! We decided to take this rare opportunity to visit Riders Cafe.

For those without their own transport, trying to get there is like going to 西天取经 (Journey to the West). The walk to the cafe from the nearest bus stop is about 20 minutes, so we decided to take a taxi in. Problem solved. Not~ Getting in was easy, getting out was the problem.

A cafe for riders, it goes without saying that there are horse stables nearby. So amidst the smell of of all the good food, there would be occasional whiffs of horse manure wafting into the cafe. Oh well.

Smoked Chicken Salad

Decided to go healthy on a whim and ordered a salad as our starter. The salad had apples and they were quite sweet, which complemented the dish very well, giving it a refreshing taste.

Creamy Risotto

Chu Fang liked that her seared Hokkaido scallops were not overcooked and retained freshness. The risotto was cooked al dente and Chu Fang could almost finish the entire dish on her own without complaining that it was too creamy for her. She also felt that the risotto was flavorful and that the truffle oil was not overpowering. On the downside, she did not touch her broccolini at all.

Riders Burger

After eating so many burgers at so many different cafes, I came to a realization that all the burgers have bacon in it to enhance its flavour and this one is no different. I ordered a medium well beef patty, and it was passable I guess. It tasted like it should, and it was quite well cooked, which resulted in a not-so-dry patty. And the fries were too salty for my taste buds, and I feel that it would taste better if it were thick cut fries.

Riders Cafe is a unique place due to its scenic location, and is definitely worth a visit. I think it may be us, but no matter how friendly the staff in the restaurants are, out of 10 restaurants, 4 of them would forget part of our orders, 4 would take very long to get our bill. The staff at Riders Cafe managed to take a very long time to fetch our bill even though the cafe was quite empty. Apart from that, they were very friendly and prompt in filling our water glasses just because we were too cheapo to order drinks.
